The Art of Information Engineering

At Sierra Cybernetics we're redefining the meaning of systems engineering. We're still bringing inter-related hardware and software components together for a purpose, but that purpose is no longer an end in itself. More often than not, it's part of a larger process with a beginning sometimes forgotten, an indeterminate future and a rapidly fluctuating present. Physically a computer system is static. It's the flow of information through it that makes it dynamic, gives it a purpose that is more than the sum of its parts. That's because the information is the life of the enterprise the essence of management decisions and the catalyst of all transactions. System designers of the "the new millennium" must understand those decisions and transaction processes, as well as legacy systems and the logic of evolving solutions. We can call this mission the Art of Information Engineering.
