Sierra started as a DOD company in 1981, working on only DOD projects. In 1985,
Sierra initiated non-DOD projects. The initial projects targeted were imaging
software projects. We were awarded the City of Orange Imaging Contract and since
DOD projects became harder to obtain, we increased our search for commercial
software as well as imaging projects. Our largest commercial customers to date have
been the City of San Francisco and the South Coast Air Quality Management District. The City of San Francisco project involved automatic storage and processing of building permits and included a network or 9 Windows NT servers and over 200 users. The database was converted to an Oracle database as well. At the South Coast Air Quality Management District, we are working on a variety of projects. Most of the projects are using either PowerBuilder or Microsoft's Visual Studio for the development and enhancement of the systems. We are involved in enhancing their Finance system, their Web Page, their Permitting System, their Central Station system, and several smaller projects. Sierra is proficient in Visual Studio, Various databases (Ingres, SQLServer, Oracle, and Inform), PowerBuilder, ERwin, Object Libraries, Active X, and Java.
