FormScribe™ Features
FormScribe™ Convert - Provides the the capability to view Adobe Acrobat PDF files, can convert a bitonal Adobe Acrobat PDF file page range into image files (one image per page), and can convert any Adobe Acrobat PDF file page range into 256 level grayscale images.
FormScribe™ Scan - Provides the control to scan images, allows the operator to optionally process images during scanning, provides the capability to import from hard disk, allows the operator to optionally process images while importing, provides the capability to handle bitonal images, provides the capability to import grayscale images, provides the capability to import multi-page TIFF CCITT G4 compressed bitonal images, stores bitonal images as TIFF CCITT G4 compressed files (one page per file), and stores grayscale images as TIFF JPEG compressed files (one page per file).
FormScribe™ Map - Provides the capability for the operator to interactively define print zone location(s) on form pages, provides the operator with the capability to interactively specify individual print zone size, is a non-movable and non-resizable during Production operation, can represent one print line on the output form page. (Line wrapping and word wrapping is NOT supported.), can be associated with only one predefined database field. (NO floating or overflow fields), provides the capability for the operator to associate a print zone with a database field by field name, reads database field definitions for a form from an FSF file (as defined in the FormScribe Technical Description Document) generated by the customer, warns the operator if the length specified for the FSC field may cause the printed output to exceed the print zone length, capable of requesting automatic resizing of a print zone to fit the associated field length and form font size selected, and capable of selecting a font face, size, and style (regular, old, italic) to be used for all print zones in a form.
FormScribe™ Print - Can overprint a form page image with database field values associated with print zones, can read the database field character string values from the FSC file (as defined in the FormScribe Technical Description Document) generated by the customer, the FSC file can have database field values grouped by form, the FSC form groups can be organized into cases, print zones that have no database field content specified in the FSC form group can be considered to be intentionally blank, FSC database fields, which have no associated print zone, will be silently ignored, field content can be printed without line or word wrapping, FSC database field content can be printed without print zone clipping, the user can launch FormScribe Print for interactive use, Print can be launched with the FSC file specified on the command line in which case it will terminate after the FSC file has been processed, can be launched to a user's desktop to await DDE conversation requests, can provide the capability to receive the FSC filename via DDE, and can provide the capability to report busy/available status via DDE.
General - Was developed using Kofax Image Controls 3 Gold Edition, which will limit the hardware and software file formats that will be supported, was developed as a 32-bit application written in Microsoft Visual Basic 5, was developed on Microsoft Windows and tested under Windows. It was also tested without any scanner interface or scanner and using a Kofax KF9275 interface and a Fujitsu M3093E scanner. FormScribe is licensed on a per seat basis and has separate licenses for Preparation (Convert, Scan, Map) and Production (Print).
