WORKDAY provides the Orange County Transportation Authority with an automated tool that interfaces with the payroll software and the scheduling software. It automates dispatching and scheduling of coach operators and application of union rules so that the scheduling can be run automatically. Daily changes can be made to the dispatcher module that then is archived for calculating pay for the coach operators.

WORKDAY Administrator – Provides the capability to interface with the scheduling software (HASTUS) and the employee roster from the IPPS program. The Administrator also contains software to automate the quarterly and weekly bidding process.

WORKDAY Scheduler – Generates a daily schedule for all the coach operators based on the union rules and bid process. It can be generated automatically or can be modified to add work such as training, etc. The schedule generated is used by the dispatcher to ensure all routes are covered and to record all events.

WORKDAY Dispatcher – Provides the capability for the Dispatcher to input data to the system, make changes when necessary and warns him of any bus runs that may have potential problems. It provides the Dispatcher with error messages indicating that the union rules may be violated if he performs certain actions. Finally it saves the data to a database and generates tables that are then passed on to the pay system so that coach operators can be paid.

WORKDAY Timekeeper – Timekeeper uses the workrun schedule and all the changes made by the Dispatcher to create archived tables that are then used to create a virtual time card for each of the coach operators that can then be used by the pay system to calculate each of the coach operators pay. In addition, the union rules applicable to each of the coach operators is automatically applied.
